Customs Map: Dorms, Routes and Exits | Escape from Tarkov
Choose the crossing that serves your assigned exit before adding Dorms or loot. Recheck the route at each fence, river passage, and floor change.
Layers this guide uses
Customs has 819 marked features across 4 views. The useful way to read it is as a set of crossings between fenced sectors. Pick the extraction first, decide where you need to cross the river and central barriers, and only then add Dorms or a keyed room. A route that begins with the loot target often reaches the middle of the raid with no clear way through the next fence.
Choose a crossing with an exit already in mind
Load controls, connectors, and extracts together. Find your assigned exit, then trace backward until the route reaches your starting side. Mark the river passage and the next central connector as separate decisions. If either one is uncertain, choose a second crossing before adding optional stops.
Use the Surface view for this work. Roads, fences, and exterior passages decide the route. A straight line between the start and the exit can cross an impassable wall, so follow documented connectors and confirm the side from which each passage is entered.
A quick crossing card
Write four short notes: starting side, river passage, central passage, and final extract approach. The card should still make sense if you turn around after a detour. Instructions such as “go left” are weak because they depend on facing direction; a fence corner or road junction remains useful from either approach.
Keep boundary hazards in the route view
Add minefields and sniper zones to the crossing plan. Minefields and Sniper zones show where an apparent edge route should stop. They are avoidance information, not landmarks to test by walking toward them.
When the route runs near a boundary, choose an interior landmark parallel to that edge. If you lose orientation, return to the landmark or the last connector. Do not use the absence of a visible fence as evidence that the boundary is safe.
Enter Dorms with one room and one stairwell selected
The exterior plan does not tell you which indoor floor contains a room. Search the exact target, then use the result to choose one of the Dorms views:
- Dorms, Ground floor for the lowest interior layout and its entrances;
- Dorms, Second floor for the second-floor rooms and corridors;
- Dorms, Third floor for the top mapped Dorms floor;
- Surface again once you leave the building.
Keep Floor connections visible after changing views. Before opening a door, find the stairwell that returns to your exterior route. If the target uses Keyed doors, inspect the marker and the wall around it. A pin inside a room does not automatically identify the correct side of the threshold.
Limit the indoor plan to the selected room, its stairwell, and the exit from the building. Adding every keyed room at once hides the corridor shape. Once the objective is done, switch back to the exterior view before choosing the next crossing.
Treat ZB-013 as a chain
The marker for ZB-013 is the end of a multi-point decision. Open its details, identify any documented control step, and connect that step to the correct approach. The map shows fixed locations, but it cannot confirm the state of the current raid.
Review extracts without the room markers before committing to the last sector. Check the exact in-game list again. If the chosen exit or its condition does not work, the backup route should branch before the final connector rather than at the extraction marker itself.
Check transit separately
Set transit beside extraction markers. A Transit points point continues a route according to its own details; it is not interchangeable with an assigned raid exit. Read the marker type and destination instead of inferring its job from its position near the boundary.
Remove transit from the view once you have decided that the current raid ends with extraction. The map is easier to read on a phone when each edge icon has one relevant purpose.
Questions about the Customs route
Should I route through Dorms before choosing an extract?
Choose the assigned exit first. It establishes which crossings must remain available after the indoor stop. Dorms can then be added as a controlled detour with a known entrance and return stairwell.
Why does ZB-013 need more than one waypoint?
The extraction marker does not replace any documented control or access step. Build the route from those points in order, then confirm the current state in the raid. Keep another assigned exit as a separate branch.
