Icebreaker Map: Deck Route and Heli | Escape from Tarkov
Build a route card that names every departure deck, connector, and arrival deck. Check the group extraction requirements before the final climb.
Layers this guide uses
Icebreaker spreads 149 marked features across 9 views. A pin directly above your position may require a different stairwell, so plan the ship as a series of confirmed deck changes. Name the connector, the deck where you enter it, and the corridor where you arrive.
Make a route card for the ship
Strip the map down to deck connections. Search the target, note its view, and write the minimum sequence of deck changes that reaches it. The available views are:
- Deck -1 at the bottom of the mapped stack;
- Deck 1, Deck 2, and Deck 3 for the lower deck sequence;
- Deck 4, Deck 5, and Deck 6 for the next section;
- Deck 7 below the top ship view;
- Bridge for the bridge layout.
A useful route card reads like “departure deck, connector, arrival corridor.” It does not say only “go up.” After each change, compare the first doorway or bend with the arrival view. If it does not match, return to the same landing before trying another staircase.
Test the route in both directions
Trace the card backward from the target. A connector that is easy to enter on the way up may blend into the corridor on the way down. The return trace also reveals whether a presumed continuous stair actually requires a transfer elsewhere.
Add loot only between two connectors
Place containers and loose loot on the selected deck. Choose stops that lie between the arrival connector and the connector used for departure. A marker that forces an extra floor change belongs to a separate detour and needs its own return path.
Loot containers records fixed container locations. Loose loot identifies possible item locations, not guaranteed items. Hide both after leaving the deck. A clean connector view is easier to read on a phone than a stack of loot pins from nearby floors.
If a room appears to sit beside the route but no opening matches, check the active deck. Screen distance across two views does not create a doorway.
Prepare the group before approaching Heli
Trace the extraction backward through connectors. The group needs a green signal flare, and each player needs the euro payment shown by the game. Confirm that preparation before entering the final deck sequence. One person’s payment does not cover everyone.
Follow the current in-game prompts for the signal, waiting, and boarding steps. The map documents the extraction position and its approach, but it cannot inspect inventories, confirm payment, or report the live state of the extraction.
Choose a check point before the final connector. If the group is missing a requirement or the current state cannot be confirmed, stop there while you can still review the route. The map has 1 extraction marker for this location, so an improvised second exit should not be assumed.
Use spawn layers for the opening decision
Compare documented PMC, boss, and AI areas before choosing the first connector. PMC spawns, Possible boss spawns, and Possible AI spawns describe possible fixed areas. They do not track anyone during the raid.
After reaching the first confirmed corridor, hide the spawn layers. Current sounds, sightlines, and open doors provide information that static start possibilities cannot. Bring a layer back only when you are planning an approach to its documented area.
Recover after a wrong deck change
Stop at the first mismatch. Reopen the last known deck, identify the connector used, and compare the arrival corridor on the neighboring views. Do not move through several similar rooms while flipping floors; that removes the only reliable reference.
If the connector was correct but the target remains inaccessible, inspect the wall and the next documented connection. The closest vertical pin may require travelling away from it before the route returns on another deck.
Questions about the Icebreaker decks
How do I confirm the target’s deck?
Search for the target and note the view where the result appears. Follow Floor connections from the current deck one change at a time. Confirm the arrival corridor after every staircase.
Is reaching Heli enough to extract?
No. Prepare the green signal flare, make sure every player has the required euro payment, and follow the live prompts shown in the raid. The marker cannot confirm that those conditions have been met.
