Mortal Shell 2 Interactive Map: 2,248 Markers, 40 Layers

LootMap's Mortal Shell 2 interactive map puts 2,248 verified markers in 40 filterable layers on the full world map, so you can find shells, weapons, beacons, Ova and keys without collecting a single Map Fragment.

Layers this guide uses

Mortal Shell 2 launched on 2026-08-20 without a pause map: the in-game world map starts blank and fills in only as you collect Map Fragments. LootMap’s interactive map removes that grind. It carries 2,248 verified markers in 40 layers on the full world map, and it works in all 15 languages the site supports, on desktop and phone.

How do you unlock the map in Mortal Shell 2?

The game reveals its map through Map Fragments picked up at Ruk’s raven-marked map stations. There are 11, and the Sat Nav achievement for finding them all sat at 5.4% of Steam players on 2026-08-21, the day after release. All 11 fragments and stations are on the interactive map, each fragment on the exact spot of a station: five Forest fragments in the northern half of the world, six City fragments in the south, the same split guides count as five in Fainweald and six in the Ruins of Mammon.

The Marrow Keep sits near the middle of the map, with the Gloom Siphon and the Tarforge inside it. The third service marker, the Wormfish Exchange, is out west, a long walk northwest of the hub and closer to Smert’s shell pocket than to the keep. The Lonesome Spire marker sits a short walk east of the keep, at the dead center of the map. Forest markers spread north of the keep, city ruins south, and the 19 beacon markers run from the top edge of Fainweald down to the bottom edge of the Ruins of Mammon.

What’s on the map by default

28 layers are visible when the map opens, and each big hunt gets its own. The 8 shell, 7 weapon and 7 sidearm pickups feed three achievements: Shell Seeker, Lord of War and “Guns. Lots of Guns”. All 54 Spoiled Ovum pickups on the world map go to the turn-in at the Marrow Keep. The 22 Glimpses are the finite shell upgrade resource. The 15 healing chalices are the healing upgrades players call Estus upgrades; the 28 artifacts beside them are valuables you sell in the hub, not upgrades.

Navigation gets the same treatment. The 19 overworld beacons are the checkpoint network; corrupted ones must be cleansed before they work, a hunt the So Fresh, So Clean achievement tracks at 1.8%. The 18 keys and 37 gates and doors share one view, including the single Crypt Key Door and Chapel Key Door. The Hidden Paths layer marks 13 spots players call illusory walls: six hidden walls, two switches, two hidden paths, two secret pipes and one breakable ceiling. Add 74 chests, 35 lifts and 30 lore pickups and the default view already covers most of what you would go hunting for on purpose.

Every view of the map is a URL. The layer panel toggles any of the 40 layers, the viewport and selected marker are written into the address, and the result can be bookmarked or shared. This link opens the map zoomed on Tiel’s shell pickup just northeast of the center, detail card already open; every location link in our Mortal Shell 2 guides works the same way. The search box jumps straight to any marker by name.

Tracking 100% completion

Progress ticks turn each layer count into a checklist you own: 54 of 54 Ova, 19 of 19 beacons, 11 of 11 map fragments, 8 of 8 shells. Tick a marker as you collect it, the panel count drops, and the number still out there is the one you read mid-run. Ticks are stored per layer and survive between sessions, and you can drop custom markers for things like farming loops.

The 12 layers that start hidden

The remaining 12 layers are off by default so the map opens readable, and they hold 1,786 of the 2,248 markers.

Enemies and materials together make up more than half the markers on the map, which is exactly why they start hidden. The layer the panel labels Weltcap holds 43 Weltcap, which heal a little when picked up, 36 Tarspore, which raise poison resistance, and one interactable mushroom.

What the world map does not show

Dungeon interiors. The nine markers on the dungeons layer are entrances on the overworld; whatever sits inside those spaces is not on this map. Keep that in mind when comparing against trophy guides: guides count 49 beacons in the whole game because that total includes dungeon interiors, while the world map shows the 19 that sit in the overworld.

Tarstones are the other place the numbers diverge. The world map carries a single Tarstone marker just north of the Boss Arena in northeastern Fainweald, plus seven Tar Arena markers and the Tarforge in the Marrow Keep. Guides count 75 to 77 Tarstones, and the Stoned achievement for the full set stood at 1.9% on 2026-08-21, because most Tarstones come out of arenas, bosses and chests rather than sitting in the world as pickups you can mark.

Dungeon and arena counts split the same way. The dungeons layer marks 9 overworld entrances and the arenas layer 10 sites, while guides count 35 or 36 dungeons because they count interiors and sub-rooms as separate sites. Each of the seven Tar Arena markers shares its spot with a Corrupted Statue marker, each pair close enough to touch; most guides call those statues Trial Statues. Every number in this article counts world-map markers, not totals across interior spaces.
