Mortal Shell 2 All Beacon Locations, Cleansing and Fast Travel
The world map shows 19 beacon markers, nine in Fainweald, four around the Marrow Keep and six in the Ruins of Mammon; cleanse the corrupted ones, then unlock fast travel at the Gloom Siphon.
Layers this guide uses
Mortal Shell 2 never hands you a beacon list, and the in-game map only fills in as you collect Map Fragments, so the quickest answer to “where are the beacons” is the map itself: all 19 beacon markers on the world map. Nine sit in Fainweald to the north, four in the belt around the Marrow Keep, and six in the Ruins of Mammon to the south. Beacons are the game’s checkpoint and fast travel network. A corrupted one does nothing until you cleanse it, and fast travel between beacons opens through the Gloom Siphon in the hub.
Beacon markers on the map carry no individual names, so match them by landmark and region rather than by the names players trade in discussions.
How do you find beacons in Mortal Shell 2?
Open the region you are standing in and find the nearest one in the table: Fainweald, the belt around the Marrow Keep, the Ruins of Mammon.
The middle of the map really is that thin. Four beacons cover the whole belt around the Marrow Keep, from the southern edge of Fainweald to the northern edge of the Ruins of Mammon and across the full width of the world, so if an area feels like it has no beacon at all, odds are you are standing somewhere in that belt rather than missing one.
A lone Shattered Beacon in northern Fainweald, right beside the Proxima shell pickup, is filed under traversal rather than beacons and does not count toward the 19.
How do you cleanse a corrupted beacon?
A corrupted beacon has to be cleansed before it works, and cleansing pays beyond the checkpoint itself. Player reports say each beacon brought back pays out extra Ova, and that several of the stuck healing chalices discussed on the Steam forums turned out to be gated behind a single uncleansed beacon nearby.
The achievement counts more than you can see outdoors. So Fresh, So Clean (cleanse all Beacons) stood at 1.8% of Steam players on 2026-08-21, one day after release. Guides count 49 beacons in the whole game, 46 of them cleansable, because dungeons carry beacons of their own. The world map shows the 19 overworld markers; dungeon interiors are separate spaces it does not cover. Treat the 19 as the overworld sweep and keep a separate tally for dungeons.
How fast travel unlocks
Fast travel is off at the start. It runs through the Gloom Siphon, one of the two service markers inside the Marrow Keep, and player reports say the unlock takes around five or six Ova fed into it. That makes your first Spoiled Ovum pickups worth more than they look; the map’s ovum layer holds all 54 world pickups if you come up short. With the Siphon running, every beacon you cleanse joins the travel network instead of staying a plain checkpoint.
Checkpoints and lifts
The checkpoints layer holds 19 Sester Genessa markers. The game spells the name Sester, though most searches type Sister Genessa, so both get you here. The map groups all 19 in one cluster; open the layer and click through the markers there instead of hunting for them across the regions.
The lifts layer is the other travel web: 35 markers, 29 of them Lift Call points, plus two Wooden Elevators, two Lift Controls, one Hub Lift at the dead center of the map sharing its spot with the Lonesome Spire, and a single Golem Elevator out on the far western egg strip. Open beacons and lifts together when you plan a longer run and want both networks on one screen.
