Elden Ring Map Fragment Locations for Every Region

The Map Fragments layer contains 24 placements: 19 in the Lands Between and five in the Realm of Shadow. The base-game count includes both surface region fragments and the separate maps collected in underground areas.

Most surface fragments sit at the small pillar symbol already drawn on a fogged part of the in-game map. The marker identifies the pillar you need to reach. It does not draw a safe route through cliffs, sealed gates, or hostile camps.

Clear the Lands Between by travel route

Start in Limgrave and the Weeping Peninsula, then follow the roads into Liurnia. Those early regions teach the visual pattern: a stone pillar beside a road, often with enemies nearby. Once the map is uncovered, use Sites of Grace to decide which road section to clear next.

Caelid and Dragonbarrow are better treated as separate trips even though they share the same red landscape. Altus Plateau, Mt. Gelmir, Leyndell, the Mountaintops of the Giants, and the Consecrated Snowfield also have access requirements or terrain that can make a nearby icon take longer to reach than the map suggests.

Open Map Fragments with Sites of Grace to plan from a known checkpoint. Hide every other layer until the regional map is collected.

Do not forget the underground section

Pan below the Lands Between surface before checking Siofra River, Ainsel River, Deeproot Depths, the Lake of Rot, or Mohgwyn Palace. Their map items sit in the named underground section.

An underground fragment is usually tied to progress through that underground route. If its point looks close to a surface Site of Grace, that does not create an entrance. Use the underground region label to identify the correct cavern or city section, then pan back to the surface when the underground set is complete.

Realm of Shadow map fragments

The DLC has five fragment placements on its own map. Open the Realm of Shadow fragment layer and work outward from the Sites of Grace you have already activated.

The Realm of Shadow is vertically layered. A fragment may appear close in two dimensions while the usable road approaches from a different elevation. Treat the marker as the destination and the visible road network as the route. If a cliff blocks a direct approach, zoom out and look for the path that enters the same plateau.

A practical fragment checklist

1. Open only Map Fragments and Sites of Grace.
2. Choose one visible region rather than crossing the whole world for the nearest icon.
3. Select the fragment marker and copy its link if the route needs several steps.
4. Collect the item at the pillar and mark the point found.
5. Let the faded found pins show which regions are already complete before choosing the next one.
6. Check the underground section before declaring the Lands Between complete.
7. Keep the Realm of Shadow as a separate five-marker checklist.

The layer count is a placement count. It is not the number of named surface regions, because underground map items are included. For the final audit, check all 19 Lands Between placements with found markers hidden, then repeat the same process for the five DLC placements.
