Mortal Shell 2 Makeshift Projectile: Location and How to Use It
The Makeshift Projectile lies at the southern edge of the Outskirts of Mammon; carry it back to the catapult's Ammo Slot, fire it, then look for the opened path at western Castigator's Keep.
Layers this guide uses
The Makeshift Projectile is at the southern edge of the Outskirts of Mammon, below the large stone bridge. Pick it up, return north to the Catapult and its Ammo Slot, then load and fire it. The shot breaks open the route to the Alchemist’s Workshop at the construction site on the western side of Castigator’s Keep.
That is the whole puzzle. The confusing part is that its three pieces do not share one map layer: the projectile is a Unique Pickup, the siege weapon is an Interactable, and the opened dungeon route is not named on the overworld map.
Where is the Makeshift Projectile?
The pickup sits near the cliff edge in the southern Outskirts of Mammon. From the region’s beacon, head south through the lowlands and pass beneath the large stone bridge. A lore page lies close to the item, which helps confirm that you have reached the right pocket.
Open the exact pickup marker rather than searching the Keys layer. The game files classify it as a Unique Pickup and describe it as ammunition for a great siege weapon.
If you are approaching from the north, the nearby Breakable Bridge marker is the cleanest map landmark before the final stretch south.
Where is the Catapult?
The working Catapult is close to the beacon on the northern edge of the Mammon route. Its separate Ammo Slot marker sits directly beside it. If the interaction prompt does not appear, check that you selected the Ammo Slot rather than another Catapult marker elsewhere on the map.
The safest order is:
- Touch the nearby beacon so the return trip is shorter.
- Inspect the Catapult and note the Ammo Slot.
- Follow the map south to the Makeshift Projectile.
- Return to the same Ammo Slot, load the projectile, and fire.
There are four Catapult markers on the world map, but only this one is paired with the single Ammo Slot. That pairing is more reliable than judging the siege weapons by appearance.
Where did the projectile land?
The game does not put a new named marker at the impact point. After firing, go to the western rocky edge of Castigator’s Keep and look for the construction area with miners. The projectile opens a damaged section there, leading into the Alchemist’s Workshop dungeon.
LootMap’s current bundle covers the overworld, not the workshop interior. The map links above therefore take you through the pickup and firing steps, while the last step has to be read from the changed terrain at Castigator’s Keep. You do not need to find or carry a second projectile.
Why the map search can miss it
Search for the item’s localized in-game name with Unique Pickups enabled. Do not use Keys, Weapons, or Dungeons. To finish the puzzle, switch on Interactions and select the Catapult or Ammo Slot. Keeping both layers visible makes the return route much easier to recognize.
